Daughter of a greek mother and a lebanese father, I was born and raised in Dubai, UAE. At the age of 17, I moved to Canada to attend university and experience the multiculturalism of Montreal. Passionate about the limitless and experimental use of sound and motion picture, I pursued my education in videography. In 2009, I graduated from Concordia University, an institute highly recognized for its Communication studies program. Early that year, I discovered the practice of yoga.
My first experience was an Ashtanga Vinyasa class at Sattva Yoga Shala. I studied with senior Ashtanga Yoga teacher Mark Darby, one of the very few people worldwide to have attained the highest level of yoga teaching accreditation. I was initially attracted to the physical practice of Ashtanga yoga. As my fascination with this dynamic style grew, so did my curiosity for the philosophy of yoga.
My dedication to the method helped me realize that yoga is more than just a physical exercise, but a lifestyle practiced on and off the mat. After moving back to Dubai, I completed my 200-hour teacher training with the Yoga Alliance and started teaching yoga at Fitness First and Core Direction. In 2012, I travelled to Mysore to practice at KPJAYI with R. Sharath Jois, grandson of the late master of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Drawing from my travels, experiences and teachers, I wish to share my knowledge and passion for the true and traditional Ashtanga practice.
